 UK unvented system

Since the 1985 Building Regulations and the new Model Water Byelaws of 1986, unvented systems are permitted in the UK. An unvented hot water storage system is a hot water container, pipe work, and terminal fittings, where the water contained within it is held at some pressure above atmospheric. It is normally supplied direct from the mains and the system is sealed to the atmosphere. (It does not have a vent pipe). Unvented systems can also be successfully used where a mains supply is via a cistern tank. This type of system may be supplemented by a suitable pump.
